About me
About me
Hej, Hello! I’m Michal, a UX/UI designer, service researcher, and graphic designer based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Having completed my bachelor’s in Media Technology and master’s in Service Systems Design, I’m currently on the hunt for the next career opportunity 😃 I have 3 years of professional experience in the field.
UX and Service Design - what’s that?
With UX (user experience) design, I will help improve your products and offerings and make them more meaningful to the customers by understanding the human factor. I do it by using various user-centered and co-creative methods, from user research to facilitating workshops, observations, prototyping, and many more. My approach is always holistic and inclusive, trying to account for as many factors as possible. I use a strategic approach to project process planning and ask “what if” all the time. I am highly analytical, as the decisions I make are supported by data, research, and my past experiences.
Besides working on products, I specialize in Service Design and develop experience-focused solutions for clients and companies. I can help you improve internal processes, and services offered by your company, and create seamless, delightful experiences for your customers across different touchpoints.
Service design focuses on the entire end-to-end journey of a customer, including both physical and digital interactions. By understanding the needs, desires, and pain points of your customers, I can identify opportunities for improvement and innovation. Through a combination of research, mapping, and prototyping, I can help you create solutions 100% aligned with your business goals.
Outside of work?
On a personal note, I’m a trained lifeguard, so going for a swim after work would be a great idea! What is more, am an avid Lego fan, so in my free time, you will find me creating brick-built cityscapes. Regarding my approach to work, I strongly care about inclusion and empathy in the work I do, as well as in my personal life. Furthermore, I find that the power of collaboration is crucial to achieving and creating great things. For most of my professional and academic career, I have worked in teams and these experiences shaped me to be the designer and researcher I am today. I hope that the above gave you a better insight into who I am!
How do i work?
Collaboration = success
One of the key aspects of service and UX design is collaboration. I believe in involving stakeholders from various departments and disciplines, encouraging cross-functional teamwork and open knowledge sharing. This collaborative approach ensures that all perspectives are considered, leading to comprehensive solutions that address both customer needs and business objectives.
Evaluate, iterate, repeat
Moreover, I understand the importance of measuring the impact of my designs. I employ a range of evaluation techniques, such as usability testing and customer feedback analysis, to continuously iterate and improve the things we develop together. By leveraging data and insights, I can refine the user experience and ensure that your services remain relevant and competitive in a rapidly evolving market.
Inclusion and empathy
Co-creative processes require emphasising with users to discover their pain points, needs and wants. To do so, I always strive to include as many parties as possible. Modern design processes must be inclusive, and it is my responsibility - as the designer and facilitator.

UX & UI WORK
UX & UI WORK
CRAFTING UX deliverables for clients @Designit
As a UX Designer at Designit Copenhagen, my role is to work together with clients (partners) and deliver various digital, UX-oriented artifacts, for example, a mobile app, interactive platform concept, and fully working sales channels for one of the biggest insurance companies in the Nordics. To achieve this, I have worked often throughout the entire design process, ensuring that valuable insights and data are collected before working on the deliverables.
My other tasks included communicating with and presenting to clients, working in agile teams, navigating new contexts, and creating solutions for such.
UX & UI work to improve webshop performance
As a UX & Website Designer, my responsibility at Danish Endurance was twofold. Firstly, I was tasked with boosting conversion rates and customer engagement through novel UX research and design projects on the company's webshop. To achieve this, I collaborated with various teams to develop and implement new features, while leveraging data to support my decisions. I regularly employed tools such as Google Analytics and Optimize, running experiments and delivering analytics reports to ensure that customer-driven data was always at the forefront of my decision-making process.
Additionally, I undertook a range of digital design-oriented tasks as part of my daily routine. These included designing newsletters, banners, and SoMe posts, among others.
service design PROJECT tO ImprovE employee performance
For the master's education internship semester, I joined the team at MAN Energy Solutions in Copenhagen. My main task was to guide and support the implementation of the new version of a GARM system (files and information managing system). In particular, I took care of understanding how the employees currently use the system, what are their pain points, and needs, and how the new version of the aforementioned system would support their workflow in the future.
The job was done by utilising many service design tools - the most crucial ones were user observations, workshops, and interviews.
Enhancing design processes with AI
For my master’s thesis, I approached the topic of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into design processes. The focus here was threefold: ensuring AI and humans work cooperatively on a given task, plus considering the ethical implications that might arise, and exploring what human-machine co-work actually means. The result of my research is the AI-augmented Design Process Model - an interactive toolkit for designers to discover various use cases to take their work to the next level with the help of AI.

UX & UI design project for Airofit
Airofit, a Danish company, has developed a breathing training device that connects with the mobile app. The company approached me with a problem: customers stop using the app because it is simply not engaging enough. My main task was to conduct user-centred research to improve the mobile app experience and develop UX-oriented solutions to fix the aforementioned issues. I started by conducting qualitative interviews with clients. Insights drawn from data allowed me to design a new UI and improve the overall experience of using the product.
developing a DIGITAL SERVICE FOR culture DISCOVERY - Culture Couch
KulturDistriktet, an association working to foster cultural engagement in the districts of Østerbro and Nordhavn in Copenhagen, gave me the task was to - through developing a new service - bringing more culture all year round to the aforementioned areas.
The outcome of the project was the idea called Culture Couch. Culture Couch is a platform that connects cultural actors with hosts wishing to contribute unused extra space for cultural initiatives and provides community bonding experiences to its citizens. This concept is an important step towards making cultural participation more inclusive. This new service concept was found to be a new way to create greater brand awareness and local cultural engagement opportunities.

How will AI change the future of UX & service designer jobs?
In the paper titled "The advancement of AI: service designer’s capabilities, service jobs, and what the future holds", I explore the possible future for service designers, their autonomy, and service jobs in a world shaped by AI - a breakthrough technology, changing the world day after day. Based on my research, possible future implications are presented and critically discussed in the paper.
Do they know they might not need them? A critical analysis of personas - a UX tool
In this paper, I reflect upon user personas, a popular UX modelling tool. The case-based approach is combined here with desk research and literature review. The starting point for this essay was the criticism of this tool in recent years, both in scientific and HCI communities. This paper moreover talks about the use of personas in terms of inclusive design. Alternative design tools and methods are also explained and compared to personas. Furthermore, the use of personas within the Double Diamond project framework is laid out.
Would you trust a self-driving car with your life?
In this paper, I researched the attitudes of young people towards autonomous cars in the future - and if, under certain conditions, they would trust them with their lives. The process started by diving into the market of self-driving vehicles. From the research, I concluded that a society that entirely relies only on self-driving cars will not happen soon. Therefore, the younger population ought to be researched. I wanted to know how much people could trust a fully self-driving vehicle; therefore, I designed a quantitative study and surveyed 63 people. After that, the data was analysed using advanced statistical methods and Matlab software.
Co-designing desirable futures - design games and a navigational approach
What are the futures people want for themselves and future generations? With these questions in mind, the paper titled "Co-designing futures They desire - the employment of design games and navigational approach" explores the topic of citizens’ involvement in co-design processes in terms of shaping desirable futures for them and with them. The outcome of this analysis is four deduction points - insights about the navigational approach and the employment of design games concerning facilitation practices by service designers.
